Grand National Tips

Grand National Guide has an exceptional record for finding the best tips for the World's biggest race.

We have advised three big recent winners, including 50/1 winner Rule The World.

Some of our regular followers back all four of our tips each year and have seen great returns over recent Grand Nationals. We have even picked out a placed horse at 100/1!

Tip #1: Vanillier

The Gavin Cromwell gelding is no stranger to the Grand National, this will be the third year he has been entered into the race. In 2023 he put in a great effort when finishing strongly to finish runner-up behind Corach Rambler. Last year things didn't quite go to plan, he struggled to see out the race and finished well down the field in fourteenth. He ran off 147 in 2023 and then 151 in 2024 and this year he is back to a mark of 147. He is also coming here off a decent run in the Cross Country at Cheltenham despite almost taking the wrong course at the beginning of the race and losing a lot of distance but still managed to finish third in that race. Back down to the same mark as when runner-up in 147 and on slightly better ground than last year, it could be third time lucky for this Cromwell runner.

Tip #2: Intense Raffles

Intense Raffles has the same profile as last year's winner I Am Maximus in that he comes to Aintree having won the Irish National the previous season. That win was on heavy ground but this seven-year-old gelding has won on good to soft in France and his dam, the very good mare Une Artiste, won a big Cheltenham hurdle on good ground so I wouldn't be put off by the underfoot conditions.

Tom Gibney's charge warmed up in the top Grand National trial at Fairyhouse in Ireland, finishing second to the improving Nick Rockett, who he was giving three pounds to in a conditions race. This time at Aintree, Intense Raffles will be receiving twelve pounds from that rival which indicates just how good a run that was at Fairyhouse.

The British handicapper would be giving Intense Raffles five more pounds to carry if he could re-frame his weight so the combination of being ahead of the handicapper, being in excellent current form and having proven stamina in a National makes him a stand out bet.

Tip #3: Beauport

Won last year's Midlands National so has proven ability to handle this distance and after winning a valuable handicap chase at Ascot in November by over 30 lengths he has run just twice since over hurdles in high class events probably with the intention of protecting his official rating with the Grand National being his target. This type of preparation has been used by previous National winners and importantly he has had a light season with just the three starts so should be nice and fresh.

His jumping was more fluent when winning at Ascot which is a major positive and his career best effort when winning the Midlands version was on good to soft ground so should act very well in the conditions. Overall he appears to be a nice fit as regards the profile of previous National winners, stable jockey Sam Twiston-Davies has elected to ride him over Broadway Boy, trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies won the race in 2002 with Bindaree and these colours were carried to victory by Corbiere in 1983.
