Didn't seem to enjoy himself at all in this race before being pulled up after the seventeenth fence
Introduction
Intense Raffles was a strong fancy for last year’s Grand National but never seemed happy having got spooked by the starting tape and receiving a bump from another horse. He then got hampered at the third fence and his race was over very quickly. In truth, the ground had probably gone against him anyway as he prefers soft underfoot conditions, but his subsequent poor performances this season suggest he was not that well handicapped anyway.
Given he hasn’t been at his best this season, another trip to Aintree may be unlikely and he could, perhaps, be aimed at Fairyhouse and the Irish National, a race he won two seasons ago.
